As I reflect upon this semester I have come to the realization that I can use technology in my classroom in many different ways. This experience will not only make my classroom teaching experience more valuable but will also help my students become world learners because of the vast resources available.
I really wished that we were able to do the smartboard lesson, due to the fact that this is a technology that will be in most of the schools in the next year. This is one aspect of the class that I will have to go and research on my own. I also have been using the google documents I use all the time for collaboration with other students with other classes.

Technologies that have influenced me
The three technologies that have influenced me the most are cell phones, wireless Internet and laptops. I'm sure to some people my list might seem caveman like however I grew up in the 70's & 80's and some of today's gotta haves to me are not as important but still practical but I'm not going to parish if I don't get the latest version.
Cell phones are extremely important to me. It's how I keep in touch with my family and vice versa. When I was a teenager no one had a cell phone and when they first were introduced they were big chunky phones, not like the thin sleek ones of today. Just last week was a perfect example of why everyone in my family has a phone. My daughter goes to Rutger's in New Brunswick, she had to travel to Trenton because she left something on the train. While on route she noticed her car wasn't working right, pulled over and called me. I was in my car and got her message. If this happened to me when I was her age I would have had to walk to the nearest pay phone, leave a message at the house if no one was home and then have to wait for someone to come get me at my car. She was upset and she was able to get to me with real time I can't even imagine what she(my daughter) would have been like if the cell phone was not available to her. Now even though my phone is important to me I do not have the latest phone I have the chocolate which is 6-7 yrs. old it does what I need to do make calls. I do a little texting and I do take some photos. I will probably upgrade to an iPhone but not the 5g that's out but the 4g. I don't need to spend all of this money on something that will be upgraded again in 6 months.
Wireless Internet is another huge influence right now I am writing while sitting on my couch. Never would have been able to do that the old way. You can't have wireless without wi-fi so I have lumped them together. The ease of going any where generally and still have use of my computer is so convenient.
Of course I wouldn't be able to go anywhere with my computer if it wasn't because of the laptop. Having a laptop computer is a lot easier than carrying around the old computer,monitor and keyboard from room to room and don't forget all of the wires. Not that we would even think of doing that. We designated a room, with a desk and a chair(the computer room) and all of our work was done there. Never outside by the pool, never outside or in the TV room. Never at someone else home never, never, never was the typical response of where you could take your computer except for the computer room in a house.

National Edu. Tech Plan ,Heart of Edu. Reform
Transforming America's Education to improve student learning at what cost? The children can not be our guinea pigs, here's a plan that in theory, will allow our future to grow. And we as a nation can guarantee that all children will have equal access to the Internet (at school and at home). In a perfect world this could be accomplished yet in our real world that is not a possibility. Will we as a nation have to supply every newborn an iPhone or laptop so that they are ready for the business practices that our school system will be providing to the education system?
Here we go again, lets force technology on the students of America and throw out common sense. Technology is changing everyday, smaller computer's, handheld devices, new programs , new virus's. Are all of the school systems across our nation going to keep up, buy the newest technology? (Oh that's right the school systems have an unlimited budget and every school system is not in a remote location and can easily access wi-fi)
In 15 years we have made improvement regarding technology within our schools. Can we make more improvements, yes but what will we cut in other areas or tools to accommodate is the question.A business is set up for certain costs, technology is classified under operating cost, as a business when you finalize your taxes you are allowed to write off these cost and possibly get money back that you paid into, I am not sure that schools have that flexibility since the people in that community are paying the bill and depending on the area some school budgets do not get passed and then budgets need to be revised and items removed.
I believe that we need to find a happy medium one that allows technology in and hopefully the teachers are well trained to use and as a teacher you will introduce this tool into your practices and then the students will have a starting point , a good foundation that they can grow with and will become stronger literates in technology

Classrooms of theFuture
After reading the article, "In Classroom of Future, Stagnant Scores", I was some what amazed and yet disappointed at the same time. Here we are in the 21st century and we are surrounded with technology in our cars, our homes, our work environments, even in our hands. I am amazed that this school district has over supplied the schools with only one tool to teach with and yet the basic supplies are left behind. Due to the high spending in one program other programs have been cut due to the budget. You certainly will not develop a diverse student here with knowledge in all fields of learning.
Yet nobody knows how to use it in a way that can improve our children's learning experiences. Don't miss understand me I believe that technology has helped our society in leaps and bounds. However giving a computer to a kindergartner and expecting them to do school work is like giving toys to kids and saying all I want you to do is sit and not play with them. Introducing technology in a teaching environment and having realistic expectations from your students depending on their age, gender and maturity is really the issue here.
Technology to a certain point can hinder someones learning by not allowing them to use their own brain. There are some people who can not do math with out a computer. Yet prior to calculators students and adults were able to acquire this task. I believe to a certain degree we are dumbing our future. It is wonderful what we can do with the advancement of technology but I see improper grammar, poor math skills(multiplication & division) and awkward social skills. Technology in a teaching/learning environment should be encouraged but I do not believe that it should be the only tool used and all of the old practices like pencil and paper should not be eliminated.
